Biography

I am a composer, musician, and sound designer. I write and produce music for theatre, concert, and film as an independent, freelance artist based in Brooklyn, NY.

My compositions are thematic and have a strong sense of atmosphere and texture. My background is as colored by classical study and art music as it is by popular music, drawing from influences like art and post rock, minimalism, neoclassicism, and ambient music.

In the theatre, I seek to find ways to make music a more integral part of the audience's experience by developing work with music essential to the the play, not just music as design.  In art and dance, I hope to bring drama to the work by creating music with a sense of emotional journey.

I have performed live scores for Mother Courage and Her Children at Shakespeare and Company, The Dick and the Rose by Robert Biggs at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, and my own adaptation of Medea at Purdue Theatre in Indiana. My scoring and sound design can be heard on television networks and stages in the US and abroad.

I am a member of the Brooklyn-based bands The Year of the Hare and Slalomville. I regularly sing with The Dessoff Choirs and gig as a choral singer in NYC, performing at Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, and Riverside Church, among other venues.

I earned a Master of Fine Arts in Sound Design and Production from Purdue University and a Bachelor's of Music from Syracuse University. I was born in Berlin, Germany and then grew up in Upstate New York.
